Tsinandali Estate & Amphitheatre
Profile

Tsinandali is where Georgian wine met Europe: the nineteenth-century estate of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, poet and moderniser, who planted an English garden in Kakheti and was the first in Georgia to bottle wine in the European manner. The estate survives whole — the house museum, the garden's old planes and vines, and a historic cellar holding bottles that date to the prince's own century. Beside it now stands a purpose-built amphitheatre, home each September to the Tsinandali Festival and its Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra. The combination is singular: a private concert under Kakhetian stars, a vertical tasting in a cellar two centuries deep, and the Alazani valley beyond the garden wall.
